Ian goes to hospital

Well after a having a painful stomach for a week or two, and putting it down to a stomach bug - I decided to go to the doctors...... I was promptly told to go to hospital ( as I had appendicitis). Oh Joy!!

After having my appendix out, and being discharged two days later, I found myself doubled over in pain (no exaggeration), and was re-admitted with an abscess and infection. Have to say it was one of the most painful experiences of my life, and something I never want to go through again. I was kept in for a week, placed on IV antibiotics and had a tube draining the gunk from my abdomen.

Interestingly, during the procedure to insert the drain, I discovered that morphine has absolutely no effect on me...... which was a bit of a shock to one of the doctors who gave me 17.5mg in 10 mins to counteract the pain, and it had no effect whatsoever. Sorry to anyone outside the CT scanner room that I scared off with my screams !!!!
Just like to say thanks to all the staff in South Wing 4 for making my stay as comfortable as possible. I have to say as hospitals go, it certainly had the best View! Nothing like seeing the sun set and rise over Sydney.

Heres a few pics....

The first the view from my bed (yes realy) and one of me feeling sorry for myself, complete with bag of gunk. There was also a resident population of Crested Cockatoos which hung out on the balcony. Laura insisted on feeding them bits of her apple.

Our First Visitors

Well, technically they've moved here, so not really visitors. Paul, Lesley and Caleb arrived on 19th August, and have so far been experiencing the wettest September on record!! They've got themselves their own place that they're moving into soon which will upset Taz as he had become quite attached to Caleb. The pictures are of their first proper weekend in Sydney, where we went for a walk around the botanical gardens and the Opera House.
