Trip to Cockatoo Island

So what started out as a photographic expedition to capture a Guinness World Record attempt (ladies running in stilettos) inadvertently (through being there on the wrong day) turned into a trip to one of Sydney Harbour's Islands. Cockatoo Island has had many uses over the years - a shipbuilding yard during World War II, a prison, a reformatory school, and now as a harbour landmark. We were there as part of the Sydney Biennale - a contemporary art festival - but really, the old abandoned shipyard buildings and world heritage listed prison were far more interesting. We rounded the day off with some yummy tapas in a lovely bar overlooking Circular Quay with the almost obligatory Saturday afternoon cocktail.
